Theater Bug

See, told you I wouldn't be great at keeping up with this! I know it's been awhile, but hopefully I haven't lost you completely!

I've been on a theater hiatus since November 2004, when "Forum" ended. I've throughly enjoyed my time off, happily seeing my friends in their productions rather than stressing about my own. But, I've finally gotten to the point in my break where I'm ready to find myself back in the limelight. I've been scrolling through NEOPAL (Northeast Ohio Performing Arts List, for those of you who aren't in the know) for worthwhile shows to audition for. My criteria have been 1) EAST side of town, 2) a good show worth getting excited about, and 3) hopefully at a community theater worth its' salt. I think I've found one. Auditions for Kiss Me, Kate are coming up in 2 weeks at Cain Park, a venue I've heard is not only very cool, but known for good productions. So having my criteria met, I need to get ahold of the cast recording of Kiss Me, Kate so that I can get to know the style of the show. Sorry Matt, but I might be doing another musical!

The other bonus to possibly being in this production is that it's a summer thing. Rehearsals don't start until the very end of May, and the production dates are June and July. I wouldn't miss anything with the CAC Singers, a group I've grown rather attached to. Plus, summers tend to be lighter on the workload at my job, and so the stress level *should* be lower. That's the plan. Hope it all works out!!!

P.S. Matt asked me recently to do a regular play, something I haven't done in *yikes* 3 years. The reason being, I have a terrible time memorizing lines, and I LOVE to sing. Once you leave college, the opportunities to sing in public grow smaller and smaller unless you actively seek them out. Karaoke doesn't count; the only people listening are your friends at the back of the bar, who are hollering support the whole time anyway.
