Can you believe that the health care/medical industry is not an option under work?! WTF, Blogger? I work for an enormous hospital writing the stuff that gets cancer research studies approved. I think I'm funny, I'm a good cook, and I'm living in sin with my boyfriend.

Other Life News

I wanted to post about school separately, because most of you got the email I sent out about school. This way, if you want, you can skip to the juicy stuff! ;^)
Matt and I will have been dating for a year February 15. Our anniversary would have actually been Valentine's Day, but I didn't see him that day because of his work schedule, and I wanted to tell him I'd fallen in love with him in person. Matt is planning our anniversary celebration, I have no idea what he has in mind. I have a few ideas of my own, though. I've never been with a boyfriend long enough to actually have an anniversary. It's a nice feeling.
Matt and I have agreed to move in together. We'll probably be doing it in the beginning of April. I think I'll set it up so that I'm officially "out" of my apartment at the end of that month, so that way I have plenty of time to clean the place up from 3 years of being lived-in and get settled into our new home. We're apartment hunting right now, but we'll probably end up moving into a larger apartment in Matt's current complex. It's a nice place, not too far from where I live now. We're still working on details. And I haven't told my parents yet. They didn't seem too thrilled with the concept the first time I told them that Matt and I had discussed it and didn't work out. I'm hoping that it'll go over ok, especially since Matt and I have actually been dating for awhile now, and have known each other for a long time.
I've been setting my parents up for the idea as best as I can. I've mentioned that our relationship is getting serious, and he's been coming with me to as much family stuff as he possibly can. But something happened this past weekend that not only makes me feel really good about our relationship, but will also help to ease my parents' old-fashioned minds. We were out with a group of friends to dinner, and told them about our move-in plans. Our friend Lisa asked if we were going to get married. We answered the question at the same time, but with 2 different answers. I said "we haven't really talked about it", and Matt said "absolutely". We both looked at each other with the same "what are you talking about?" look. I think Mom and Dad are just worried that Matt is getting out of "buying the cow" so to speak. If I tell them this, at least that'll help to show that we're both going into this with future intentions in mind.

In other work news, I caught wind of a reliable rumor that my company's contract isn't being renewed with our hospital system, and that we'll be gone come April something. I haven't heard anything from my company's standpoint, so I'm just kinda hangin' out and hoping it's not true. We were told the new contract had already been signed, etc. Send me some happy job mojo!

Having a very slow day at work, hence the 2 posts. But you all needed some reading material anyway, didn't you? See, that's what I thought.

Back to School

Well, I've had my first class. Should be pretty easy. My professor is really nice, and he's setting this class up so that everyone has an opportunity to do really well. The only homework I'll have is studying my class notes, and reading the book if I want - he said all of his lecture test questions come from the lecture, not from the book. And he stars the important things so you have a clue what to expect on the test. There'll be 2 tests, midterm and final. The final won't be cumulative. The lab exams will come directly from questions at the end of each lab in my book, which he will give the answers to at the end of lab each week. There won't be any formal lab reports, just the worksheet from the book to turn in. I can miss up to 2 labs without any penalty; after that, it's 10% off my lab grade each time. We'll be told about quizzes a week in advance.

That's pretty much the scoop. Class is scheduled from 9-3:20 every Sunday, but my professor said that we'll probably only be there until about 1 each week, which is much less mindnumbing.

I'm glad that the class doesn't seem to be too hard. I was really nervous about going back and diving right into science, especially chemistry, which I wasn't good at in high school. The material we covered on Sunday was kinda familiar from 10th grade, but I definitely will benefit from the refresher course.
