Back to School
Well, I've had my first class. Should be pretty easy. My professor is really nice, and he's setting this class up so that everyone has an opportunity to do really well. The only homework I'll have is studying my class notes, and reading the book if I want - he said all of his lecture test questions come from the lecture, not from the book. And he stars the important things so you have a clue what to expect on the test. There'll be 2 tests, midterm and final. The final won't be cumulative. The lab exams will come directly from questions at the end of each lab in my book, which he will give the answers to at the end of lab each week. There won't be any formal lab reports, just the worksheet from the book to turn in. I can miss up to 2 labs without any penalty; after that, it's 10% off my lab grade each time. We'll be told about quizzes a week in advance.
That's pretty much the scoop. Class is scheduled from 9-3:20 every Sunday, but my professor said that we'll probably only be there until about 1 each week, which is much less mindnumbing.
I'm glad that the class doesn't seem to be too hard. I was really nervous about going back and diving right into science, especially chemistry, which I wasn't good at in high school. The material we covered on Sunday was kinda familiar from 10th grade, but I definitely will benefit from the refresher course.
